Day 13: Kissing the Blarney Stone

We had a long sleep and big lie in this morning after a late night with our cousins at the hotel. We had a delicious breakfast cooked by Nanna, jam on toast! After breakfast, we drove for about 20 minutes across Cork to Dublin Hill, home of Aunty Pauline and Uncle Declan. We played with our cousins, Jamie, Grace and Emma. I was astonished when kind Uncle Declan gave Finn and I Hurley sticks and sliotars, made by Uncle Declan's friend who was an all Ireland Hurley champion-wow!πŸ₯…πŸ‘πŸ…πŸ†πŸŽ–πŸ₯‡πŸŽ— They also gave us Barcelona football, very kind of them.

When we left, we popped to Aunty Nancy's house (Grandads sister-in-law), the house was called Glenfalls and we had a tour of the house and sat down, chatted and looked at family photos.

The next stop was Blarney Castle, home of the Blarney Stone. For lunch we had  our first (and delicious) Irish stew. Then, at the Castle, we saw beautiful tree decorations, the Castle dungeons - which were damp and muddy - were like a little cave where you had to bend down. After that, we started to walk up 100 steps (winding up, narrow and 600 years old). When we were up there we said "where's the Blarney Stone?" but Nanna told me. When it was my turn, I was quite frightened as there was a long drop under me but I was brave enough to do it. Daddy held my legs and the man held my chest as I held onto the metal bars and kissed the stone. I was quite proud that I kissed the stone and we then walked nervously down the windy, steep steps. Daddy said when we got to the bottom, "Do want to go to the playground in the castle gardens?" And we said, "of course we do, we are children!" There was not very much equipment but we had lots of fun...I climbed the rope to the top of the wall. Also, daddy pushed us on a swing (VERY, very, very high!).

Following that, we walked on a nature trail through the forest. Despite not seeing any animals, it was still fun.
We had a look in the gift shop then nipped home.
The day was great, apart from the weather...the clouds were dark and grey🌨πŸŒͺ
